Green Jobs

By admin | Apr 23, 2009

I had read numerous articles about all the high paying “green collar” jobs that will be created, expecially in wind and solar.

Does anyone have any good advice to share on how to best position one’s self to land one of these great opportunities?

Today’s Job Tip: Keep Dreaming Big

By admin | Apr 23, 2009

When looking for a job we tend to look for the closest finish line, and get frustrated when there is no job or it is already filled.  Look behind the finish line – dream big and think big so that the closest finish line is just a speedbump on your way.  If you shoot for the moon and just clear the treetops you are much further ahead than shooting for the treetops and not leaving the ground.  Always continue to dream big, set challenging goals, and keep on marching towards them.

Interview Blunders

By admin | Apr 15, 2009

You finally land that big interview.  You read about the company, make sure you know where to go and how long it will take to get there, have the right clothes ready to go,  and have a list of notes and questions ready to go.

The interview is going great.  You feel the connection with each person who interviews you.

Then you get too comfortable and are asked: “Tell me about an employee you didn’t get along with”.  You launch into an innocent story which turns into a complaint about the employee which you try to apologize for and find yourself digging an ever deeper hole.  You see the body language on the interviewer change and realize you just blew it.  You go through the motions for the rest of the interview but you just can’t get this out of your mind.

The best way to avoid these blunders?  Learn from others who have committed them.  If you are aware of what can happen you are more likely to avoid it happening to you.

What stories do you have to share?
